the heat is on.

the weather in jordan was heavenly. divine. i felt chilled many times and tried to recall the last time i felt cold while outside. we even had some rain in wadi rum! (where lawrence of arabia was filmed). but alas, after the surprisingly awesome week where our little fulbright family bonded in close quarters in our little miss sunshine bus, it was back to hot and steamy muscat.

temps have reached the average of around 100F/40C and the worst is apparently yet to come. in omani ingenuity, many homes have really tall ceilings to where heat escapes. this doesn't really bode well for me, who lives on the top floor of a 3 story building. i think i can feel the heat that has risen from the 2 apartments below me as i walk on my quasi marble floor. oy. the cold water is now lukewarm. and while i love that my apartment gets crazy amounts of light, i think it's finally time for aisa to invest in an electric drill and put up her blinds.

the good news is that the city's traffic supposedly lightens a LOT because everyone escapes (to either down in salalah, or apparently to jordan, where i've heard tales of gulfis playing in amman). looks like it'll be salalah for me in july, but lord knows how i'll survive this month and june. ideas?
