yesterday, i went to a museum in oman for the first time.
i know, i know, i've been here two months (really?) and it's so unlike me to do such a thing. but when life and finding and setting up house takes over your life (and when you live 30 minutes away from old town muscat), you find little time for anything else ... other than arabic homework of course. so we visited bait al-zubair, the art gallery at bait muzna (with a nice surprise -- a rooftop terrace!), saw the sultan's palace at night (and got mildly harassed by young omani boys who claimed they were the sultan's guards ...), and ended up at the muttrah souq, where i proceeded to start my christmas shopping ...
enough blabbing, this will be a photo post, for real ....
bait al-zubair. originally the home of the al-zubair family and now converted into a museum.
grounds of bait al-zubair ... who said that oman was just desert? :o)
and then we discovered that bait muzna was still open!
bait muzna art ... i miss DC museums ... :o(
old muscat at night, as seen from the rooftop terrace of bait muzna
i hope the sultan gets that light on the right of his palace fixed before national day ...
